Karlobag
Karlobag, a small town at the foot of the Velebit is situated on the main Adriatic coastal road which connects Rijeka and Dubrovnik. Karlobag is the northernmost point of Dalmatia, opposite the island of Pag, at the junction point og 3 regions: Dalmatia, Primorje and Lika. This position between the mountains and the sea gives Karlobag the true Mediterranean climate on the coast, while only ten kilometres away, towards the Velebit the climate is mountain. Its population today is mainly engaged in fishing and tourism. Today in Karlobag there are about 900 residents.
Beaches in Karlobag
If you are looking for long sandy or pebbly coves, you will not find these in Karlobag. Beaches are mostly paved with arranged entrance to the sea. All the beaches in Karlobag have a breathtaking view of the island of Pag.

In Karlobag there is accommodation in hotels, private accommodation or camping. Velinac Hotel is located in the center of Karlobag and is 100 meters from the beach. The hotel is open all year, and the taverns Ribar within the hotel is a favourite place of local people. Zagreb Hotel is situated at the very edge of the coastline, just by the sea, with a beach that allows you to swim in the crystal clear waters. The biggest offer of accommodation is in private apartments. In Karlobag there are several small family camps which are located along the coast.
Restaurants in Karlobag
Gastronomy of this region is special, because the regions of Dalmatia and Lika are joined here. Therefore, in Karlobag guests can enjoy the Mediterranean cuisine, but also try original Lika specialties. From traditional restaurants you can visit Amphora tavern and tavern Ribar, and if you’re a fan of pizza and Italian cuisine then the recommendation is pizzeria Susanj.
What to do in Karlobag
If you are staying in Karlobag you should visit the monastery of St. Charles Borromeo and the remains of the old city from the defense against the Turks in the 17th century.
Near Karlobag there are even three national parks, so if you like spending time outdoors and seeing the natural beauties we highly recommend the following:

Shopping in Karlobag
Several small shops can be found near the port. Souvenir and gift shops are also located in the centre. If you are looking for a large shopping mall, the best option is going to Zadar, which is about 60 minutes away by car.
Nightlife in Karlobag
“Nightlife” in Karlobag takes place in several restaurants and bars that are located in the centre. If you are looking for a fun night in a club late at night, then the recommendation is going to Zadar or Pag on the world famous beach Zrce. Unfortunately from Karlobag to Pag no regular ship lines operate, but in the season quite a few taxi boats sail to Pag.

Karlobag is located on the main Adriatic coastal road which connects Zadar and Rijeka. If you come by the highway, take the exit Gospic from the highway and continue by a local road to Karlobag.
